Residential Support Worker

We are now recruiting for Residential Support Workers for our homes in Hyde and Cheadle Hulme.

Overview:

- We require residential support workers for full-time, part- time and bank work with emotionally, behaviorally and psychologically challenging and complex children.
- We are looking for candidates who are committed not only to providing consistency, support and care for our residents but also to their own development through the training and qualifications provided.
Main Duties:
- Providing physical care, emotional and psychological support and a safe and positive living environment for our residents.
- Helping residents to deal with problems and become independent by teaching daily living skills such as budgeting, living skills and personal hygiene. 
- Providing and supporting residents with leisure and creative opportunities such as trips and leave from the home as well as on social outings.
- Keeping records,  writing reports and effective handover of all relevant information pertaining to the young people and the  operational and administrative running of the home to the next team of staff, as well as assisting in the preparation of review reports for the young people and assessing each resident’s needs and progress.
- Working as part of a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment and manage challenging behavior.

Key Skills:
 
Essentials:

- The ability to understand and empathise with the needs of the young people in our homes
- You will also be confident, assertive and a team player.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Willing to undertake training and qualifications.

Advantageous:

- Proven experience in residential child care or a relative role. 
- Experience of working with challenging behavior.
- NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in childcare or a relative subject.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A resilient personality with life experience.
- A current driving licence.
- Restraint training.

Are you a Clinical or Educational psychologist with an interest in child development?

HEAD TEACHER Required for April 2012 or earlier

Willow House School is part of the Halliwell Group, and offers full time education to young people within residential and fostering settings. Registered for 15 students, the school has just completed its first Ofsted inspection attracting Good to Satisfactory in all areas. We now seek a Head to further develop the educational provision Halliwell offer.

With the continued development of the school and staff team, we wish to appoint a head teacher who has an interest in the psychology of child development and ideally an understanding of the "Pillars of Parenting" model of child care.

You will have:
- Clear evidence of successful classroom practice, curriculum innovation and high expectations of young people from within the looked after system.
- An ability to direct and develop a psychologically based behaviour management ethos and strategy.
- An ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team setting offering senior psychological, therapeutic and social work input.
- A strong desire, energy and vision to build on the school's present achievements within an integrated care setting.

- Training in (and qualification) to the Pillars of Parenting "authentic warmth" psychological model of child care.
